Independence Day Parade - Poppy Princess

Avery participated in the 4th of July parade in Oak Creek representing the ALA unit 434. She threw out candy to the spectators along the parade route.

After the parade Avery enjoyed chatting with people in the crowd at the post. Here she is with Oak Creek Mayor Dan Bukiewicz after she had her face painted.

While standing in line waiting for her balloon animal Avery was approached by a mother who wanted to ask about the tubing attached to Avery's arm. Avery explained that it was part of her insulin pump and the lady went on to explain that her daughter was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes too.  She introduced her daughter to Avery let her know that even though she has diabetes, she can do anything. Yes, she can!
